Bridgerton Themed Wedding at Somerley

ELEGANT REGENCY SUMMER WEDDING AT SOMERLEY HOUSE

A truly epic treat of a wedding to share with you today. Gia and Iav’s classic wedding at Somerley House has to be an all-time favourite, these two absolute sweethearts celebrated with their nearest and dearest with a Bridgerton regency-themed wedding.

The stunning grand backdrop of Somerley was simply iconic, with a soft palette of blues, greens and pop of soft pink, Lady Whistledown herself would be aghast at the scene. Good wine, good food, and a good party were top of the agenda, planned to perfection by Get Wed by Rebecca Brennan-Brown and her team, Ella and Helen. Dearest Readers, I invite you to sample the delights of this incredible wedding…

REVIEW

Katie is an absolute gem of a wedding photographer! Her talent for capturing moments is truly unparalleled. From the instant she arrived, she put us at ease with her warm personality and professional approach.

What sets Katie apart is her ability to make you feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. She has a knack for directing without being intrusive, resulting in natural, candid shots that perfectly capture the emotions of the day and who you are as people. The end result? A stunning collection of photographs that took our breath away.

Every single picture is a work of art, beautifully composed and filled with emotion. She managed to capture not just how our wedding looked, but how it felt.

Katie's eye for detail, her creativity, and her ability to be in the right place at the right time are remarkable.

If you want a photographer who will not only document your special day but elevate it through her art, Katie is the one.

A truly magnificent photographer and a wonderful human being.

She makes you want to get married again just for a second chance to work with her.

We couldn't be happier with our decision to work with Katie and look forward to cherishing our wedding photographs for decades to come.

Thank you, Katie!

Somerley House Weddings

Somerley House is one of my absolute favourite wedding venues in the UK, with its Georgian grandeur and sprawling estate grounds; you are certainly not spoilt for choice of photo backdrops. From the stately-home intimacy of the Drawing Room, to the gilded splendour of The Picture Gallery, every pocket of Somerley House offers an elegant and elevated experience for your wedding.

Getting Ready with Gia

My greatest top tip for beautiful getting ready photos is choose your space wisely.
Look for more space then you think you need, trust me, when you have hair, makeup, bridesmaids, photographers, videographers, your getting ready things, prosecco and nibbles, space gets filled very easily. Neutral, light spaces are gold, it allows you, your VIPs and your details to shine.

Somerley House has many beautiful rooms to choose from, with lots of gorgeous large windows for light to pour in, reflecting the classic grandeur of the house without being overbearing.

Gia sourced her incredible Lazaro dress from Kleinfeld New York, the Say Yes To The Dress store. Paired with the most bridal of Manolo Blahnik shoes and delicate gold jewelery with diamonds.

Gia got ready with her mumma, sister, and bridesmaids. Some of my favourite moments were seeing how happy and proud they were of her, before Gia opened a special gift from Iav.

Iav Getting Ready

FIRST LOOK

Increasingly popular with my couples, is a first look and sharing private vows before the ceremony with loved ones. I just adore that precious time together, one of the few moments you will get truly alone before all the other traditions of the day begin; time to share a reassuring hug, a sweet kiss. A first look I often find really calms and centres couples before the ceremony, knowing that everything is ok, they have had some special time to be together without anyone else around.

CEREMONY IN THE GROUNDS OF SOMERLEY

When planning their wedding at Somerley, Gia and Iav were undecided about where to have their ceremony, but were leaning towards an outdoors ceremony and desired some beautiful floral installations to set the tone for their English country manor wedding. I suggested using the fountain steps as a back-drop, so the entire house could be seen behind in all its glory, with the addition of their gorgeous florals creating a flow from the house to the steps.

Gia was accompanied down the aisle by her mother, the glammest of glam MOBs! Gia’s brother and sister-in-law led the ceremony with personal touches, sharing rings and vows. The smiles on their faces said it all.

HEARTFELT PORTRAITS WITH ATTENTION TO DETAIL

I promise you will never regret making time for couple portraits. If you take 15 minutes before dinner, and 15 minutes after, you will not only get absolutely beautiful photos, you will have a chance to relax and be together. Imagine all the events of a wedding day, the ceremony, the speeches, the cake, the first dance. All of these things happen surrounded by people. Your portraits are a rare opportunity to have time purely just for the two of you, embrace it, and let me do the rest.

Your photos will be taken without a huge fuss, just you two together, as I focus on how you hold hands, how you look at each other, how your dress moves, how suave you look, how elegant and confident you walk as a married couple. These little moments are little treasures.

POP THE CHAMPAGNE

Following a gusty confetti moment, Gia and Iav led their guests to the drinks reception and shared a moment to cheers their marriage and guests over a champagne tower. Forever classy, and such a treat for your guests to toast you all with a lovely glass of bubbles, share congratulations, and reminisce on past moments together.

DINNER IN THE PICTURE GALLERY

A jewel in the crown of Somerley House is the splendour of the Picture Gallery. Long tables bedecked with florals and tapered candles (my fave), glittering lights among the golden tones and regency atmosphere. If there was ever a room that epitomised a Bridgerton ball, this would be it!

I highly recommend taking a few minutes for a first look at your dinner reception room before guests join. It is such a special moment seeing your vision and dream suppliers work come to life before you.

Gia and Iav were then welcome into the room by their guests to rapturous cheers and applause, ready for speeches from their most special people.

GROUP PHOTOS

Want a golden nugget of advice? Book a venue that has beautiful space inside, not just outside. The weather can turn at a seconds notice, so having a plan B for photos is absolutely essential.

Make sure your venue has more than one space available to you. If your ceremony space has to be turned around to then become your dinner and party space, where could you go? Is there sufficient room where the drinks reception is taking place if inside? Is there a gorgeous staircase?

At Somerley, the Drawing Room was the perfect spot for group photos when the wind got pretty windy! To save dresses and hair flying around, and dust rolling into eyes, we utilised the beautiful fireplace of the Drawing Room for photos instead of battling with the gusty gales outside. Completely seperate to the dinner room and bar, this allowed a relaxed area for photos.

EVENING COCKTAILS AND DANCING

To kick off the evening festivities, Gia and Iav danced to Trap Queen, a song that may not seem a natural first choice for a first dance, but made Gia and Iav think back to the time when they first met and got to know each other - the song was simply everywhere they went!

Turns out, it was a great choice for a first dance song as everyone got into the fun spirit with them, soon joining them on the dancefloor! When Gia changed into her party dress, we took a few minutes for some fun paparazzi editorial style photos with a cocktail in hand.

Gia and Iav, bringing the class and party in the same breath! Congratulations my lovelies, what a special day xx
