Mediterranean Themed Wedding | Millie and George

MEDITERRANEAN THEMED WEDDING IN THE SUSSEX COUNTRYSIDE

A FLURRY OF EXCITEMENT

Millie got ready at the family home with her loved ones, a melee of bridesmaids, flower girls, mums and aunties, it was absolutely wonderful to be among all the girls helping Millie prepare for the special day ahead.

The room was flooded with beautiful natural light, the perfect neutral backdrop for bridal prep. Millie wore her mother’s bracelet and designed her own Veil Jacket to go with her stunning Galvan London dress.

When Millie was ready, her father was waiting at the bottom of the stairs for her. I love her excited smiles with her mum captured in the mirror, and the look of sheer delight on her father’s face when he see’s his Mille for the first time.

THE CEREMONY

Millie was transported to the ceremony with her father in a vintage maroon Rolls-Royce, to the family church in Hellingly. Millie’s history teacher was their priest, giving a beautiful and heart-felt service full of personal readings, and performances from Millie’s younger sister and brother with their youth choir.

George was supported by his best men and ushers, with his young nieces as flower girls, there wasn’t a dry eye in the house as Millie entered the church with her father.

Following their vows, Millie and George processed through the church to a surprise ‘Love Actually’ rendition of All You Need Is Love! Millie’s brother had quietly made his way up to the balcony of the church to sing, accompanied by a pianist and guitarist! Their guests absolutely loved this moment, the surprise and laughter on their faces was wonderful to see, a perfect way to start the celebrations.

A MEDITERRANEAN RECEPTION

Back at Millie’s family home, against the back-drop of the Sussex countryside, their guests relaxed with canapés and drinks before heading to the tipis for dinner. Featuring a blend of all things Mediterranean with a Greek inspired menu and Italian inspired florals (and Limoncello!)
Instead of a traditional table plan, guests had a personalised bottle of Limoncello waiting for them, with their table number on the underside of the label!
Millie and her girls had created the floral centre-pieces themselves, with styling by Katie Tottenham Events.
Also, if you are ever in doubt a tree would work inside a tipi, it does! Speeches followed dinner, with Millie’s father, George’s Best Man, and George all toasting to the happy occasion.

THE PORTRAITS

Just as daylight was leaving, Millie and George had the perfect spot for their portraits on the family’s land, with blue sky and soft, beautiful light. Wanting some relaxed and romantic portraits, the surroundings and light really set the atmosphere. Mille’s chic silk gown by Galvan London was perfectly off-set by her own veil jacket creation and complemented by the modern black velvet tuxedo George wore. Designer George also created the stationery featured for their day, talk about a talented couple!

THE PARTY

Lit up under the glitter of several mirror-balls, Millie and George danced their first dance as a married couple to Shania Twain’s ‘Still The One’. Confetti cannons blasted into the air, as guests cheered them on, joining in with them. The band kicked things off in style with floor-fillers, the crowd singing along all night. The tipi lights also dimmed, creating a gorgeous night-time atmosphere and transforming the space into both a sumptuous bar and party!
